As part of a critical milestone in efforts to curb the mpox epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a crucial shipment of over 90,000 doses of mpox vaccine has arrived in the Country.
This initial delivery will primarily focus on protecting healthcare workers and vulnerable communities.
Additional vaccine doses are expected to follow, addressing long-term needs in the region. The vaccines are part of a broader response package, which includes personal protective equipment, diagnostic and medical treatment kits, hygiene supplies, and tents. These resources will support key outbreak countermeasures such as treatment, case isolation, surveillance, infection prevention, and handwashing.
