ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE – The 26th edition of the Prof. Wole Soyinka Lecture Series, themed “The baby or the bathwater: navigating the dark tunnels of systemic corruption to nationhood,” will be delivered by Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, CON, SAN. Fashola, the former governor of Lagos State and Minister of Power, Works, and Housing, will headline the event, which will be chaired by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, GCON, GCVO, CFR, CON, the third Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
The lecture will take place on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State, beginning at 11:00 AM.
In addition to the lecture, the event will also feature a presentation of “The Wheel of Justice,” a satirical dramatic sketch penned by Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka. Directed by Dr. Tunde Awosanmi of the University of Ibadan, this performance will be showcased for the second time as part of the activities marking Professor Soyinka’s 90th birthday. The dramatic sketch will be performed at the same venue, the June 12 Cultural Centre, in the evening of August 2, 2024.
