As Delta CP pays courtesy visit
Nigeria’s oldest Inland Water transport company in Nigeria, Niger Benue Transport Company (NBTC) Limited, has assured the Nigeria Police Force of its continued support and cooperation towards ensuring peace and security in Delta State, and beyond.
Speaking in a ceremony to receive the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ari Ali, who paid a courtesy/familiarisation visit to NBTC’s Operational Headquarters and Base in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, the Chairman, Olorogun (Dr.) Moses Taiga, JP, assured that, as a peaceful marine company with an unblemished record of good neighbourliness, the company is ever-ready to provide the necessary support to make the work of the Nigeria Police smooth and successful.
Olorogun Moses Taiga, who is also President-General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide, told the CP Mohammed Ali about the cordial relationship that existed between NBTC and the Police in Delta State, especially with past Commissioners of Police and Inspectors-General of Police (IGP), including the current IGP, Usman Alkali Baba. ‘You can count on us as a people you can rely on. We are with you,” Olorogun Taiga told the Police Commissioner.
On the services provided by NBTC, Mrs. Oluseyi Oluyede told the Commissioner of Police that the company offers well-rounded maritime services. She said NBTC specialises in Shipbuilding and repairs, the building of barges, tugboats, passenger boats and ferries, water ambulances, armoured boats, inland water navigation, and cargo transportation, among others. Mrs. Oluyede also said NBTC also services the nation’s Oil industry by providing necessary equipment and facilities to oil companies.
Responding, CP Mohammed Ali thanked the NBTC management for the warm reception. He said his visit is to familiarise himself with the company and to establish “a symbiotic relationship, and also solicit their support and cooperation.”
Assuring NBTC of the cooperation and support of the Police Command, the CP noted that crime-fighting is everybody’s business. “Nigeria Police Force cannot do it alone. Globally, it has been acknowledged that no single head can do it alone. It is why there is a need for collaboration. The need for partnership and the need for synergy cannot be overemphasized. No society grows when crime thrives; development cannot be done, and investors can’t come in if there is no peace. Our unemployed youths cannot be employed if there is no peace, “Mr. Ali said.
